    About the Special Issue

This special issue will present advanced methods for evaluating structural, biochemical, or electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord, or other nerves leading to a range of symptoms characteristic for various neurological disorders.

Functional and molecular tomography of the brain using CT, MRI and optical method is of great importance in terms of multimodal study of a number of neurological disorders. The combination of these approaches with various probes and nanostructures opens up new possibilities for the development of the theranostics paradigm in the treatment of pathologies of the brain and other neurological tissues. The in vivo use of biocompatible cranial implants, combined optical clearing/molecular contrast techniques, optogenetic approaches, functional multimodal imaging and laser brain stimulation methods all require further development.

The topics of interest for this special issue are:

    1. Novelties and advances in instrumentation

        (1) CT scanning

        (2) MRI

        (3) Electroencephalogram (EEG)

        (4) Electrodiagnostic tests: electromyography (EMG), nerve   conduction velocity (NCV)

        (5) Positron emission tomography (PET)

        (6) Optical imaging

        (7) Angiography and lymphography

    2. Novelties and advances in neurological diseases diagnostics, monitoring and treatment

        (1) Brain tumors

        (2) Stroke

        (3) Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

        (4) Cerebral aneurysm

        (5) Epilepsy and seizures

        (6) Acute spinal cord injury

        (7) Ataxia

        (8) Brain hematomas

        (9) Alzheimer's disease and dementia

        (10) Parkinson's disease

        (11) Headaches

        (12) Bell's palsy
